Tackling Healthcare
Disparities and Lowering Costs
Governor Whitmer and Lt. Governor Gilchrist didn’t just keep us safe with a strong, science-based response to the COVID-19 pandemic and by helping millions of Michiganders get vaccinated, they have also been working to expand quality and affordable healthcare that lasts long after the virus is gone.
That includes expanding health care coverage through Health Michigan to over one million people, signing a bill to lower the cost of prescription drugs and investing $300 million to recruit, train and retain health care workers. They also made key investments in a plan called Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies, which tackles the disproportionate racial impacts on infant and maternal mortality.
They also expanded access to mental health care, including major bipartisan investments in mental health services and help training mental health professionals.
